To our wonderful patrons,
A couple months ago, I reached out to you for your professional and financial assistance. As a community, you all showed up. In less than a month, we closed a $100,000 shortfall. And with your guidance and support, we established a balanced budget for FY2026-27. I am forever grateful to each individual that stepped up in our time of need.

I wish this was a celebratory email. But with good news also comes the following…..

Despite verbal affirmation to the contrary, Trinity Theatre’s lease in Mission Valley will not be renewed. Our last day in the mall will be September 30, 2026. I want to be very clear this is no fault of our own. In fact, the mall has provided us with a letter of recommendation as we start our next chapter. Ultimately, a national retailer that aligns more with mall ownership’s new vision made a higher financial offer on our space. We were not told until after a contract was signed, and a counter could not be made. While we are disappointed by the news, the mall ownership has been kind, caring, and compassionate throughout our 3-years in this community.

As we say farewell to Trinity’s first true home, we also say farewell to things that almost were. After months of discussions, our Carlsbad agreement has come to a dissolution. This will give us the opportunity to focus on one expanded space.

The ol’ 1-2 punch.

So, what comes next?

The short answer….I don’t know yet. But something good is coming. My team and I have toured a great many facilities, and we’ve narrowed our options. In fact, we have an offer out (still too early to share anything else)! I hope I can have a more exciting announcement soon, and get our regular programming back up and running!

But what about until then?

I am once again asking for your help.

Money. We have toured spaces that would double, or even triple the size of our facility. To do so will take some serious cash. We, as a community, have raised a solid chunk of change before. But if you want to put your name on a building, or a chair, a room, or a bathroom stall, I would love to have the conversation with you. I’ll even buy your coffee 😉

Labor. Okay, the heart breaking part….we’re going to need help packing up Mission Valley. We’ll need a lot of tools, and a lot more hands. We want to preserve as much of our equipment and labor as possible. We need help to do it right. It will need to be packed out of here, put into trucks, and either relocated to a new space or a storage unit (again, we do not want to rush a facility).

I know this news is hard. For many of us, this space has felt like a second home. It has been a community gathering place. It has been play, laughter, joy, memories. It has seen incredible friends and family come and go. But, at the end of the day, that wasn’t because of a physical building….that was because of you. And, wherever our new Headquarters winds up being, we will recreate that sense of friendship, family, and community.
