SAN DIEGO, CA – Trinity Theatre opened its 2019 season (Season VII) with Larry Shue’s riotously funny play, The Nerd, a comedy that dives into the chaos of an unexpected guest who turns a quiet evening upside down. The story follows a young architect whose life takes a hilarious turn when he is visited by a man who once saved him in Vietnam. But this visitor, an awkwardly inept “nerd,” overstays his welcome in increasingly outlandish ways.
Directed by John Gray III, the production featured the talents of local actors Eddy Lukovic, Rachel Landis, Eric Trigg, David Janisch, Deirdre Maloney, and Skot Golden-Needham. Behind the scenes, the creative team included Carlyn Thometz (Scenic Design), Marc Akiyama (Sound), Jacob Golden-Needham (Lighting), and Sharonfaith Horton (Props). Nicole Riedel served as the Stage Manager. The Nerd is written by Larry Shue and presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
